Education
Professional driving licence
Concerns only applications for the road haulage for third parties sector. The worker must hold a professional driving licence equivalent to category CE, issued by a country whose licences are convertible in Italy based on a reciprocity agreement.
Common errors
- The licence is not of a category equivalent to CE or was issued by a country with no conversion agreement with Italy.
Other documents
Self-certification of verification of worker availability
For non-seasonal jobs, the employer must attach to their application a self-certification stating that they have previously checked with the competent Job Centre that no worker already present on national territory is available. This step is mandatory, except for workers who have completed training abroad. An official template for this document is provided by the authorities.
Common errors
- Failing to attach this document or not having carried out the prior staff search makes the nulla osta application inadmissible.
Certificate of conformity (Asseverazione)
This document, which must be attached to the application, is issued by a professional (employment adviser, accountant, lawyer) or an employers' organisation. It certifies that the employer complies with the contractual and salary conditions required by law for the hiring of foreign workers. This document is part of a simplified verification procedure.
Common errors
- This document is not required if the application is submitted by certain employers' organisations that have signed memoranda of understanding with the Ministry of Labour.
Proposed residence contract
In the case of a conversion of a residence permit into a salaried work permit, the worker must present this document at their appointment at the Sportello Unico per l'Immigrazione. The document must be previously completed and signed by the future employer, using the official template.
Common errors
- Attending the appointment without this document, or with a document not signed by the employer.
Mandatory communication of employment (Mod. UNI-Lav)
After the signing of the residence contract at the Sportello Unico, the employer must make the mandatory communication of employment. A copy of this communication must be given to the worker, who must include it in their residence permit application case.
Common errors
- Forgetting to include this copy in the residence permit application case (plico postale) to be sent to the Police Headquarters (Questura).
